Body Found at Mission Trails Identified, Cause of Death Unknown

Identified as a 33-year-old San Diego man, few details have emerged about the death.

The body of a San Diego near a pedestrian path at was identified by the Medical Examiner's Office on Saturday as Jeffery Martin Andrews, 33, but the cause of death remains unknown.

The San Diego police received the report of the male body on a mountainside near from a hiker at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. The hiker stopped a nearby jogger, who then called 911.

The responded to the emergency call and confirmed Andrews' death, and that he'd been dead for some time.

There were no immediate indications of suspicious circumstances related to the death, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said on Wednesday. And, initial reports by the Union Tribune suggest that medical examiners may have found small puncture marks on the body, possibly indicating a snakebite. According to the Sheriff's Department, further tests are being performed.
