Santana LEOs Honor Fallen Military at Ft. Rosecrans

Young LION Club members from across the county participate in a Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony.

The Santana High School Leadership, Experience, Opportunity (LEO) club participated in the District LEO Annual Memorial Day event at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery on Sunday, laying wreaths on the graves of Military members who had died in the past year.

LEOs from , Coronado, Rancho Bernardo, El Cajon Valley, Granite Hills, Encinitas High Schools, which are part of LIONS L46 District, gathered the names of those who had died during the past year, then attended a memorial ceremony and laid wreaths on the graves.

LEOs spend many weekends making wreaths or gathering wreath donations from local florists for this event.

" in Santee donated two wreaths for the event,” said Caitlin Gora, SHS LEO Publicity Chair and District LEO Secretary, “They’ve donated to our event every year and we really appreciate it."

LEO Clubs are made up of young members, and offer high school age youth an opportunity to lead and grow from various volunteer opportunities in their community.

The next Santana LEO event will be held at the at to support the American Cancer Society on Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3. Santana LEOs will be part of a team that will walk 24-hours to raise money for cancer awareness. Click here to donate to the team.
