On November 5th, The Lakeside River Park Conservancy is hosting a tour through San Diego as a fundraiser for their conservation efforts. A local Santee architect's office is one of the stops. Built from an old airplane hanger- can't beat that for reused materials. Inside, it is furnished with stained glass, molding, and pictures from the Old Spaghetti Factory. His desk is made from and old airplane wing and so are some overhead lights. You probably won't get another chance to see something like that up close. There is also a home in Lakeside showing off blue jean insulation, clay walls (instead of paint), passive solar design and a whole house fan. There are other East County homes on the tour up in Ramona and Barona.

But wait there's more! Included with the price of admission to the Sustainable Homes Tour is admission to The Fall Garden and Home Festival at The Water Conservation Garden. The Fall Garden and Homes Festival will have a live art show, exhibitors selling sustainable home products, educational booths teaching on a wide range of sustainable topics, workshops on sustainability, a kid zone, live entrainment, a cooking demonstration, dog adoption and of course you can stroll through the beautiful Water Conservation Garden. Workshops include Urban Chickens (), green roofs, permeable pavements and landscaping with native plants.

This is sure to be an amazing event. Both The Lakeside River Park Conservancy and The Water Conservation Garden have a proven history of hosting great events and this time they have joined forces. Clear your calender for Saturday November 5th and be ready to fill your brain with knowledge on living green!
