'Posioned Places Map' Includes Locations in Santee

NPR and The Center For Public Integrity have recently put together a nationwide map of poison places in the continental United States. The map is made from information they received in 2011 after they filed a Freedom of Information Act for the EPA's "Clean Air Watch List."
This link here goes into great deal about how NPR and The Center For Public Integrity analyzed the data in order to create the map and rate air pollution sources on a scale of 1-5 based off of the Health Risk Screening Group. 1 being less offensive, 5 being more offensive. This "tool addresses chronic human toxicity associated with long-term exposure to harmful chemicals."
According to the map there are 3 sites in Santee that release toxic chemicals into the air. The map excludes places like dry cleaners and gas stations that are also monitored by the EPA. None of the three places in Santee are listed as High-Priority Violators. Two of the sites are rated 2, and the third is rated 1.
Nearby El Cajon has a few more air polluters than Santee does and some ranked as high as a 4 or 5.
