Community Corner

`40 Days of Hope for 2nd St.” will celebrate this Sunday, Aug. 4

In an effort to reduce homelessness that affects businesses located along Second Street in El Cajon, a group of East County business professionals and community leaders have organized “40 Days of Hope for 2nd Street,” a campaign focusing on prayer by small groups and local churches.

The campaign, which began in June, has included a number of activities, including: Members from Foothills Christian Church, Skyline Community Church, Shadow Mountain Community Church and the Rock Church have selected one day to pray for 2nd Street so that all 40 days are covered in prayer; Small groups and individuals have committed one hour during the 40 days to visit 2nd Street to walk along the street praying for the businesses and people; East County residents have adopted a business on 2nd Street and prayed for that business to prosper.
