On August 11, the City of San Diego will open 5.2 miles of car-free streets in the heart of San Diego to pedestrians, cyclists, families, and anyone who can imagine a new way to use them. A free event, CicloSDias is designed to encourage neighbors and community members to experience and play in San Diego’s streets in a new way.
To support this first-time endeavor, the CicloSDias Steering Committee seeks to crowd-fund $15,000 in 15 days for event expenses and community outreach efforts. The committee aims to raise $3,000 for each mile of the CicloSDias route -- that's $15,000!
“This crowd-funding campaign provides an opportunity for the public to become a part of history,” said Andy Hanshaw, member of the CicloSDias Steering Committee and executive director of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. “If we can crowd-fund this first-ever CicloSDias, we can prove this event is supported by the public and expand CicloSDias to additional San Diego communities next year.”
The CicloSDias crowd-funding campaign provides great rewards and prizes to all donors. For as little as $10, you’ll get a shout-out on the CicloSDias Facebook page. For as much as $2,500, you can officially be the “Grand Marshall” of CicloSDias!
[Included in the $2,500 level is: cutting the CicloSDias ribbon, leading CicloSDias, riding with a VIP, the use of an electric bike, an annual membership to the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Move San Diego, CicloSDias swag and a $250 Rudy Eyewear Gift Card.]
The public is strongly encouraged to support CicloSDias with the crowd-funding campaign. Please invest in San Diego with a donation and help launch CicloSDias - San Diego’s premiere open-streets celebration for livable communities.
