“The Foundation is thrilled to have more than 160 active scholarship funds that have granted more than $22 million over the program’s 16-year history. We know that education is one of the most pressing issues for residents in the region. We are committed to ensuring a quality education is within reach of every San Diegan and we are grateful for the generous donors and volunteers who share that conviction to make it happen,” said Bob Kelly, President & CEO of The San Diego Foundation.

The Foundation’s Scholarship program offers a wide variety of scholarships to graduating high school seniors, current college students, graduate students, and adult re-entry students. Awards are granted to four-year universities, two-year colleges, graduate, or trade/vocational schools. By using The Foundation’s common scholarship application, students can be considered for more than a hundred scholarships through one application.

“I believe the Scholarships program is life changing. The program and the donors who support it are inspiring and give hope to so many families. They are enabling a new generation to achieve a higher education working towards a better future,” said Lindsay Caddel, Director of Community Scholarships & San Diego Teachers' Fund.

Through The Foundation’s scholarship program, donors have the ability to create criteria that is meaningful to them as well as participate in the selection process. The Foundation also hosts a series of celebration events where donors and students have a chance to connect and share their personal stories. Students gain a better understanding of the donors’ passion for scholarships and donors learn more about the recipients they are supporting.
