A local nonprofit that offers support of all kinds to disabled people seeking independent living.

Access to Independence is a local nonprofit that provides services to people with disabilities to help maximize their independence, fully integrate into their communities and achieve their greatest potential.

They offer free services such as employment assistance, housing resources, independent living skills, counseling, assistive technology and more to disabled people from the Pacific Ocean to the Colorado River and from the Mexican border north to the Inland Empire and Orange County areas. They serve about 5,000 people in their programs annually, including Santee residents.

Access to Independence also organizes and advocates for the human and civil rights of all people with disabilities.

The Executive Director, Louis Frick, was recently awarded the Local Hero for Disability Awareness Month by KPBS and Union Bank.
