Featured today is the Tumbleweed Burger, served at the Boondocks tent at the Santee Farmers Market each week. The Tumbleweed Burger has a 7 oz. juicy patty, cheddar cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce.
They dish up an American fare- burgers with a slew of toppings ($7-$10), chowder and chili ($5 cup, $8 bowl), sandwiches, hot dogs and more, depending on the day.
Other burger choices include the Bumpkn, Barn Burner and the Rustler.
McFadden Ranch is a local family farm that's become a mainstay of the I tried out "Uncle Dick's Dill Pickles" (see photo), but I can't recommend them. They are too mushy- I'm a fan of a crisp pickle. The taste is good, though, and I've been using them on sandwiches.
Hailing from Lakeside, this fifth generation ranch focuses on creating organic jams, chutneys, relishes and , with a recent addition to their lineup- the six hottest chili peppers in the world, including the hottest of the hot, the specially engineered Scorpion Pepper.
