Are you remodeling or maybe you just cleaned out your garage and need to dump an oversized load of trash? The City of Santee has a deal worked out with Sycamore Landfill at the west end of Mast Boulevard that allows Santee residents to get two free passes a year to dispose of up to a ton of solid waste.

To get a pass, bring your driver's license and water or electric bill for your Santee home to the front booth at the landfill (8514 Mast Blvd) between 7am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Is it true that most of what is filling up that landfill is not generated by Santee residents, or even SD county, but from up north? Trucked down from up north (L.A. or O.C.?). They get the trash mine. We get the waft. Anyway, I'm glad for this. Seems a fair deal. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why now...?
