Photo Gallery: 10th Annual 'Explore Mission Trails' Day

The theme of the event was "Connecting Children with Nature," and the wide variety of activities for kids of all ages, helped them do so.

Hundreds of East County residents turned out on Saturday, May 19 for the 10th Annual "" celebration. The free, family event serves as a way to let people discover the great natural resource that Mission Trails provides, as a way to have lots of fun in the great outdoors.

The theme of the event was "Connecting Children with Nature," and the wide variety of activities for kids of all ages, helped them do so.

Young children were able discover the joys of nature during themed trail walks, and hands-on activities at different “Explore Stations,” free pony rides and up-close encounters with raptors, reptiles and other live animals. 

Older kids and even some adults had a blast on the rock climbing walls and were able to experience a twilight hike.

Park officials were thrilled to participate in the dedication of the new Comfort Station at the Equestrian Staging Area of the park.
