The East County Live Well Expo and Community Safety Fair was a two-day event celebrating healthy living for all lifestyles at Sonrise Community Church in Santee last weekend.

Day one featured the inspirational story of Chappie Hunter, a local police officer who lost his leg in an accident and continues to work out intensely. Susan Taylor, one-time NBC anchorwoman, gave a great presentation on cutting edge healthcare at Scripps Health.

Day two was full of activities, and featured a Community Safety Fair put on by the Santee Fire Department with tours of emergency vehicles and kids activities, a huge Zumba class by Crunch Fitness, Food U with healthy cooking demos and snack tasting, bicycle rodeo, dance and martial arts performances, therapeutic laughing class, fitness events and more.

The expo was presented by the California Health Network, Meals 4 Hunger and the Santee Fire Department.
