Photos: New Assisted Living Senior Center Under Construction in Santee

Amid the along Prospect and the intersections of Magnolia and Graves, another large project was also rising from the ground- Santee's newest Senior Living Center, Lantern Crest.

And, now that the construction hubbub in the area has died down, the first stage of the new senior facility is clearly visible against the hills below .

I stopped by the Lantern Crest offices on Thursday to talk a bit about the project and take some photos.

Some excerpts from a give insight to the project:

Lantern Crest, located at 11010 Sunset Trail in Santee is currently under construction of the first phase of the project. The first phase consists of a 80-unit Assisted Living and Memory Carecommunity, providing its residents with top quality care in a resort-style environment. Upon total completion of the entire community, Lantern Crest will feature a total of over 400 apartments.

“We have broken ground on Lantern Crest and are making good progress in our construction schedule. We look forward to providing a quality of senior living care in Santee that does not currently exist,” said Kevin Spoor, Executive Director of Lantern Crest.

Upon total completion of the community it will offer Independent Living, Assisted Living and also Memory Care for residents with Alzheimer’s or related dementia. Lantern Crest is a multi-phase project with the first phase of Assisted Living and Memory Care scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2012.

Residents may opt for studio and one-bedroom apartments, each with private bathrooms and individual climate control to ensure their personal comfort. Residents maintain independence, but Assisted Living services are there when needed.

Lantern Crest will provide a wide range of services and activities for residents. Finally relieved of housekeeping, home repair and meal preparation, residents will enjoy stimulating activities that provide social, educational, religious and recreational opportunities. Choices will include community outings, musical programs, games, cards, gardening, painting, sewing, and much more.
