Question of the Week: What is the Best Santee City Park?

It's almost sacrilege to ask which of Santee's bountiful and beautiful parks is favored- Mast, Woodglen Vista, Big Rock- but vote for your favorite anyway!

Today we launch a new feature on Santee Patch: a weekly poll. Every Friday we’ll post a question. The issues will mostly be of local interest— you name it, someone's got an opinion. Which leads us to today’s poll.

This first poll pulls no punches and goes straight to the heart of one of the things Snatee does best- its parks. Some are newer, some are geared to hiking, some to dogs, , barbecuing and so much more. This is geared specifically to City parks, so as much as you love , just let us know that in the comments- and let us know why you like the park you choose.

Where is the Santee Mini park located at? Also, Town center park being in the center of the city needs more area for something other than sports, such as Central Park in New York has a wide variety of areas for different uses. More grass area with trees for shade for family type weekend park activities would be nice.

Mr. Motivated, the only mini-park I can think of would be the park that is in the new Sky Ranch development. Also the Park & Recreation Department along with the Santee Park and Recreation Committee (SPARC) did a survey and sports fields was #1 with more Senior Citizen activity/facilities #2 etc. As we go down our Park to do list we go by our research and most of all, SPARC's recommendations. Santee Mini Park is at the old Santee School site at 10335 Mission Gorge Road.

Thank you Mayor Voepel for the answer about the park and explaining the process of how the city chooses what type of park facilities to place where. I have been to the small park in Sky Ranch. It is nice for a one acre neighborhood park. I found the mini park being referenced above in the survey. It is on Mission Gorge in the south east corner of Santee. The park has a limited amount of playground equipment and a small building used by the Parks and Rec Dept for children's activities.

I enjoy the Woodglen Vista Park. It has become a place of many uses for the neighborhood. The dog park has been a great asset for the many families who have pets. Also I see people enjoying playing tennis, basketball, the softball field, the small enclosed area park for little ones and families having get togethers at the shaded pavillions. The trees have also matured giving plenty of shaded areas for those who just want to sit and enjoy the outside.
