Rocking ’Round the Guardian Angels Clock: Heavenly Fun at Fall Festival

Thousands roll out for annual church fundraiser of booths, food, crafts, book sales and auctions.

Even with an air show at Miramar and car show elsewhere in Santee, thousands were expected at the Guardian Angels Church Fall Festival ending Sunday. Dozens of craft, game and food booths were busy—especially ones serving the perennially popular lumpia and baked goods.

The three-day event—the Catholic parish’s major fundraiser—featured the middle-age band Fossil Fuel on Saturday night, which played country and rock while grade-schoolers danced on a small wooden floor.

Inside the Cunnane Parish Center—with retired pastor Mike Cunnane visiting with old friends—barbecue pulled pork and beef dinners were served for $7 while Bingo games were held in adjacent classrooms and a silent auction brought in more money for the congregation.
