First Santana Loss

At Friday night's GVL championship game the Mt. Miguel Matadors built a 31-9 lead in the second quarter and coasted to a 27-23 victory against football team.

Santana coach Dave Gross told his team in the on-field gathering after the game that he'd welcome a rematch. "I'd like nothing better than to play those guys again, at Qualcomm Stadium," he said to his players, referring to the December Division IV title game.

The game was delayed more than 20 minutes in the second quarter when Santana center Ruben Rosas was injured on a running play. He was stabilized before being taken from the field by ambulance.

The USD Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate's Index of Leading Economic Indicators for San Diego County released today rose 0.1 percent in September.

Professor Alan Gin said slight increases in help wanted advertising, local consumer confidence and the national Index of Leading Economic Indicators outweighed decreases in employment, stock prices of San Diego-based companies and the number of authorized residential building permits.
