SDG&E Construction at Mast and Magnolia is One Piece of a Large Project

The energy company is working on an 11-mile long project to upgrade lines for the Las Colinas expansion.

The construction crew recently working at the corner of Mast Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue is only a piece of a larger project by San Diego Gas & Electric that spans 11 miles in and around Santee.

Lane closures and caution cones will be a common occurrence on those streets for the 10-months the project is expected to take, from now until December. But, no road closures are predicted.

The crews are replacing wooden electrical poles with concrete and galvanized steel between the Sycamore, Carlton Hills and Santee substations and doing underground work at the Mast and Magnolia intersection.

According to the Santee Review, "the infrastructure upgrades are necessary to service the expansion of the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility and to improve power circuit stability."
