The Great Escape: Movie Night at the Drive-In

Unique to Santee, spend some alone time or plan a date night at the Santee Drive-In theater. It'll get you away from the kids and feeling like an adult again.

Santee boasts one of the two drive-in theaters still in San Diego today. Santee moms should take advantage of this close-to-home, blast-to-the-past getaway. The Santee Drive-In Theater plays nightly movies on two different screens for its community members.

This week, the drive-in plays nightly with the following shows and times:

Battle: LA, Times: 7:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. (Theater 1)

     This movie is about the downfall of Los Angeles after a natural disaster reveals alien ships living in the Earth's center.

Just Go With It, Time: 9:45 p.m. (Theater 1)

     Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston “go with it,” encouraging a lie to keep Sandler's character from losing his younger girlfriend.

Rango, Time: 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. (Theater 2)

     This digital cartoon, starring Johnny Depp, lives out the escapades of a chameleon making his way in the dirty ol' West.

True Grit, Time: 9:35 p.m. (Theater 2)

     A remake of the 1969 John Wayne classic, this Western follows the story of a troubled young woman avenging the death of her father.

Drive-In solo or take a friend, even a date. The drive-in theater is $8 a person and runs nightly, seven days a week, year round. Audio is served through FM radio, only cash is accepted, and the lot has a snack shack available for refreshments.
