Celebrate the Late-Summer Weekend with Heavy Metal, Movies and Art

Your Patch guide to weekend happiness.

There are only two more weekends left until the unofficial end of summer, so milk them for all you can. This weekend, Aug. 19-21, Santee has some great activities and entertainment available for all ages. Families can take a night walk in Mission Trails Park or watch a movie by the lake, young adults can rock out to some heavy metal and adults and kids alike can help paint a mural.

El Cajon has a couple of concerts to attend and Coronado has a bodysurfing event that shouldn’t be missed. If you’re up for an adventure, travel to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for some food-truck fun and a concert by Devo, where you’ll sing some ironic lyrics after the horse races.
