Local Band, Ramshackle, Advances to Viejas Contest Semi-Finals

In a fight for $40,000 worth of prize money, the popular local band is looking for fans to push them over the top.

The local band Ramshackle, with members from Santee, La Mesa, Ramona and Rancho Bernardo, has made their way to the semi-finals of the 5th Annual Viejas Ultimate Music Challenge.

They will compete with four other bands, coming from as far as Las Vegas, at the semi finals on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m at the Dreamcatcher lounge at Viejas.

From those five bands, the top two will be chosen by judges and crowd response to compete in the finals on Oct. 23, where the winning band will receive $25,000 in prize money.

Ramshackle didn't win the first round of competition, but was saved by the fans, as they overwhelmingly voted for them to take the "Wild Card" slot.

Formed in 2008, Ramshackle brings together several experienced veterans of the local music scene to cover popular rock/pop/alternative artists of the last three decades.

“We are honored to be in the semi-finals with some amazing musicians. We hope east county residents will support us and come out on Oct. 9 to cheer us on and enjoy a great show,” said lead singer Eddie Vandiver.

The members all have full time jobs and play in their spare time for the love of the music.

The members include:

Ron Machado of Ramona, Bass
Peter Madruga of Santee, Drums
Eddie Vandiver of Fletcher Hills, Lead Vocals
Rob Weber of Rancho Bernardo, Guitar and Vocals
