This week we'll help guide you through the long weekend with a theatrical interlude and some healthy competition, wrapped up with a vital financial lesson.

Where/when: , Santee, 11 a.m, Feb. 19.

Why Go: To do some good and meet retired San Diego Padre star Randy Jones, who is lending his  name to the Home of Guiding Hands Walk and Fun Run, which benefits locals with developmental disabilities. Online pre-registration is required to enter. 

Price: $35.

Where/when: San Diego State University, San Diego, 7:30 p.m., Feb. 18

Why Go: To see the opening weekend of "Symphony of Clouds: Musical Adventures of the Boy Mozart," the story of Mozart's youth and how he became one of the great composers. Also will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Price: $13-15.

Where/when: San Diego History Center,  Balboa Park, San Diego, 12:30 p.m., Feb. 19.

Why Go: If "tale as old as time ..." is a refrain oft repeated in your house, your child might be thrilled by the chance to don costumes as part of the "Beauty and the Beast" Song and Dance Party. And theater staff will be on hand to guide them too. 

Price: $8, per child and adult pair.

Where/when: San Diego Baseball Academy, Lakeside, 10 a.m., Feb. 20.

Why Go: For complimentary batting practice, pitching and fielding instruction provided by the academy at Stars Field, behind Barona Museum and Cultural Center. Youth players through high-school age are welcome.

Price: Free.

Where/when: Casa de Oro branch library, Spring Valley, 6 p.m. Feb. 22.

Why Go: Worried about your teen's financial future? Guide him or her to the library for this workshop, the first of four monthly discussions of money matters. First off: financial planning.

Price: Free.
