Photos: Off Broadway Live Kicks Up Their Heels With 'The Dance'
A few shows left at Off Broadway Live in a show that follows two good friends and their romances over 25 years.
Travel through time from prom and beyond and sing along to songs through 25 years of classics with "The Dance" at Off Broadway Live in Santee.
The story begins at the High School Prom and ends at the 25 Year High School Reunion and is about two friends and their individual pursuit love and happiness as they learn about the “dance” of life each must go through.
Bob Schulze and Steve Rolf, along with their wives Cindi & Jen, have built a cabaret style theater and are hosting “Off Broadway” style shows, plays and musicals each weekend on Fridays & Saturdays with some selected Sunday matinees.
Located at 9490 Cuyamaca Street in Santee (a converted old Blockbuster building), these two couples are doing something about the need to have theater in East County, right here in Santee!
“There are actors who sing and singers who act... Bob & I are singers who act, which is why fully half of each show is music and song,” said Steve.
When asked about the stories, Bob explains, “Steve & I write these original stories together, developing the characters and weaving the two into one seamless story; I’m always amazed how the two story lines fit together.”
Starting soon, Off Broadway Live will present a series of shows called “Decades”. Each show will feature the best of that decades’ music. Beginning with the 70s, then 50s, after the holidays they will pick up with the 80s, the 60s, and Country; each show will feature special musical guests that will bring a unique blend to the duo of Bob & Steve.
This Christmas, Off Broadway Live will bring back the group Guardian (Chicken Fried Gospel) in “Chicken Fried Christmas”, a dinner show with Christmas music from years gone by to todays’ new Christmas classics, some Southern Gospel Christmas and of course, some of our favorite sacred Christmas carols we all grew up singing.
When Bob & Steve are not performing, other theatrical groups will be coming in with their productions; one of which is a group slated to bring in a stage favorite later this fall, “Little Shop of Horrors”.
“We have BIG plans for OBL (Off Broadway Live), where a Bob and Steve show is just one of the things you can see here,” said Bob.
