Santee Announces 2012 Summer Concert Series at Town Center Park

Grab a blanket or a beach chair and enjoy free live music on the lawn this summer at at the north side of the scenic San Diego River.

The city of Santee's Summer Concert Series, now in its 29th year, begins June 14. Performances are every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. through August 16.  Due to the 4th of July holiday, there is no concert July 5.

The nine-concert series features the return of three musical acts that last yearattracted sizable crowds, plus an eclectic lineup of seven other bands ranging from country to classic rock.

Bands perform on a raised stage overlooking three grass soccer fields at the east side of Town Center Park.

A special "" event is scheduled for July 19 with extended hours from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This twin bill show features two of San Diego's premier bluesmen, Stoney B and Bill Magee. Phil's BBQ, a soon-to-be Santee culinary institution, will be selling savory dinners. Elite Events and Party Rentals will set up a beer garden. Both the food and beer garden are cash only. Individual barbecues aren't allowed, but you're welcome to bring your own ready-to-eat foods.

New this year is a food truck rally featuring four of San Diego's favorite food trucks each Thursday (except July 19) serving a variety of great food and desserts.

Ample free parking is available at the park.
