Santee Welcomes Commercial Construction

Santee Construction Up 35-percent

Construction activity in Santee for the week of Oct. 17 to 21, jumped an impressive 35 percent over the previous week. Total building activity leaped from 17 to 23 permits.

A good barometer for the health of any construction market is discretionary construction.  The strength of any construction market lies not just in the total number of building permits issued, but in the type of work being done and in the dollar-value of the construction projects.

When construction activity is disproportionately slanted to "must have" construction, such as roofing, water heaters, and plumbing, the market is in a slump. Owners are only spending money on the bare essentials.
