"Buffalo Wild Wings is coming to Santee!"

The restaurant many readers have been wondering about is enthusiastic to be coming to town with a new "prototype" restaurant. More details inside.

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar (BWW) has again pushed back the expected opening date of a Santee location to the summer of 2012, according to emails with a representative of the chain, which began with the reassuring and enthusiastic opening: "Buffalo Wild Wings is coming to Santee!"

In March, 2011, a "Public Notice of Application to Sell Alcoholic Beverages" on the old Hollywood Video building, at 294 Town Center Pkwy., and confirmed Buffalo Wild Wings' intention of moving in.

The initial opening date was set for Dec. 12, 2011. Rumors of delays and issues with the old Hollywood Video ran rampant after the Notice of Application to Sell Alcoholic Beverages was taken down, until confirmation came in December . The latest news suggests a summer of 2012 opening for the restaurant in a different location within the same strip-mall.

Here is an email from BBW:

The  original site did not work out.

We decide to move to a new location which is directly west (approx. 100 feet) of the original location. It is a vacant pad adjacent to the main entry drive. The site is very visible and does give us the opportunity to build a new  prototype Buffalo Wild Wings  building rather than retrofitting the former Hollywood Video site.  The new building will have more seats, a larger patio and will be more functional operationally.  The elevations of the new building will also be more distinctive than the Hollywood Video conversion which allows us to  truly bring an Ultimate Social Sport Experience to the neighborhood.

We hope to open some time in the summer of 2012 or at least in time for the World Series and the start of the NFL Football season!

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar is a subsidiary of Blazin Wings Inc., and is one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the U.S. This would be the only member of the chain in San Diego County.

The restaurant is described as a "New York style wing joint with 14 signature sauces."

They are not simply a "wing joint," but also a full menu sports bar with burgers, salada, appetizers, TVs, a juke box, and apparently, a relaxed atmosphere.

There has been Phils BBQ trucks at the ROADHOUSE parking lot numerous times over the last week, so my guess is YES!

I can't believe that the city let them build that horrible looking building in the middle of Santee Town Center. I thought the building code stated Mediterranean style buildings for the Town Center. Even the new fast food eateries on Mission Gorge are in the right architectural style, so why did Buffalo Wild WIngs get to build that monsterous bright yellow building. IT IS AN EYESORE!
