Farmers Market Fresh: More New Stuff

New vendors selling everything from lumpia, mango, kabobs, arugula and more- learn more about them and see some fresh photos.

New vendors at the seem to come in waves. Some stick around and become permanent fixtures at the market, while many move on. Read the descriptions of some of these new vendors and what they have to offer, and check out the photos in the gallery.

B&C Beignets

Their specialty are beignets- much like a donut, is a deep fried chunk of dough topped with powdered suger. The cart also offers delicious lumpia, pretty much the Phillipine version of a spring roll, filled with pork or beef (your choice) and veggies and served with a sweet and sour sauce. I've had my share of lumpia, and these rank amongst the best I've tasted. They also offer turon, which is like a desert lumpia, filled with what seems like a fried banana, surely worth a try. Lumpia go three for $2.5, turon is one for $2 and the beignets start at a small for $2.

International Cuisine

Featuring a buffet of Mediterranean foods including "boorag, sambusa, kabob." That last one's a given, but you can be sure I'll be back to find out what the first two are! Their meat pies look good as well.

Tacos de Birria a.ka. Viva de Birria

I stopped by here for slices of on a hot day and came back a week later for a fish taco. Both were exactly what I was looking for at the time. Other options include jicama or watermelon slices or lemonade.

This is cart has taken its place as one of the best vendors at the market as far as I'm concerned.

Stall at the end

There's a new stall that takes it's place at the end of the produce tents, farthest from the parking lot, that is worth checking out. Want some homegrown sugar cane to chew on, huge squash and pumpkins, bright green arugula, or heirloom tomatoes and onions, you can find them at this booth along with many more interesting things.

You can find the every Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at 10445 Mission Gorge Rd., near the Pioneer Little League fields.
