Plans were recently submitted to the City of Santee to open a Jersey Mike's Subs restaurant in the Sprouts shopping center on Mission Gorge Road, according to a spokesperson with the restaurant.
A banner announcing Jersey Mike's is "coming soon" was recently hung at the location which used to house Yogurt World, 9331 Mission Gorge Rd.
The spokesperson said that no opening date has been decided. The Jersey Mike's website shows no other restaurants currently in East County San Diego.
According to Jersey Mike's Subs, the restaurant, which started on the Jersey Shore in 1956, serves authentic East Coast-style subs made fresh to order, made “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices, using meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread.
