Joe's Old Fashioned BBQ Closes at Santee Town Center

Santee's only BBQ restaurant closes after nearly three years.

 in Santee announced Wednesday that it's closed doors for business after years of serving "Mississippi style wood smoked barbecue utilizing old family recipes."

The restaurant, known for the large meat smoker parked in front, originally opened as Smokin' Joes BBQ in January 2010 under the care of Master Chef Joe Jones & Chef John Robinson.

They posted this farewell on the restaurant's Facebook page: "Thank you for your support in trying to make this a success."

is opening with much fanfare at this fall, just across the street from Joe's, and is expecting lines out the door when they open. Whether this played a part in Joe's decision to close is unclear.
