Roots Community Kitchen Releases New Video and Details About New Restaurant

The trio that ran are starting up a new restaurant in town- Roots Community Kitchen, and week's before opening they have a new video blog giving some details on the food, opening date, atmosphere, critics and more.

With the tagline "Farm to Table Cuisine in Santee," they said that most everything served will be sourced within a days drive, locally grown, sustainable, and organic. Even the restaurant's t-shirts will be made of organic cotton.

They said that the food concept is FRESH, no preservatives or additives, something especially needed in Santee, according to the trio.

The video is shot in the kitchen, which is under construction. closed it's doors last week.

"Late nights, early morning- wer're trying to get done as soon as possible and serving some great food."

As for atmosphere changes, a hostess will greeet you outside, warming up the front, making it more inviting and comfortable. The bar will become a free seating area.

The menu will change with the seasons, and there is no specific ethnic origin for the food, said Therese.

"It's horribly insulting that food critics and local restauranteurs are saying that it won't work in East County... that Santee's not ready," they said.

"I think Santee is absolutely ready."
