Phil's BBQ Seen at Old Roadhouse Grill Site

No, we didn't spot Phil himself, but a truck emblazoned with the restaurant's logo was parked at Trolley Square.

A truck belonging to Phil's BBQ Restaurant was spotted parked outside the former at Santee on Tuesday.

Does this mean that the popular San Diego-based establishment, which currently has locations in Point Loma and San Marcos, is coming soon to Santee?

Phil's BBQ declined to comment, but an employee did indicate that a major announcement could be made soon, and that a lot of locals spotted the truck and their phone lines were being "lit up."

Until then, Santeeans will have to make do with buying Phil's BBQ Sauce at .

Rumors that the restaurant was searching for a location in the Santee area have floated around town for months, and the Roadhouse Grill site was considered a possible location, but this was the first documented indication to verify those rumors.

Their website explains the Phil's BBQ style best:

"For the past thirteen years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite grilled baby back and beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches."
