Phó Ca Dao Vietnamese Restaurant Opens in Santee

A new restaurant, Phó Ca Dao, specializes in the popular Vietnamese noodle soup.

A new Asian restaurant, , specializing in the popular Vietnamese noodle soup, opened last week in the heart of Santee.

It opened in the buidling that used to house , at 9535 Mission Gorge Road.

This is a great sign of revitalization for a strip mall that has lost three businesses in the last year; moved and both and closed after a year or less of opening.

Phó Ca Dao has two other locations in San Diego County and has four star (of five stars) Yelp reviews at each location. The banner on the building describes the restaurant as "Rice noodle beef soup and grill" and "Your neighborhood Phó & Grill."

This signature meal is Phó, a Vietnamese soup that features noodles, some vegetables, and usually some form of meat.

It will be the third Phó restaurant in Santee, joining , which opened off of North Magnolia Avenue in late 2010, and near .

I'll be eating lunch there soon and will let you know how it is in a soon. In the meantime, let us know if you've tried it and how it tasted!

This is good news for those of us in West Santee. Plus the 2 other Pho-ca-dao's in San Diego are excellent, imo. By the way, Pho Santee is on Cuyamaca, south of Mission Gorge, not north Magnolia. I've had pho at Pho Santee and Nam Long. Both fine, but I'm eager to try Pho Ca Dao closer to us by Mission Trails.

Also, I hope this one lasts there, if it's good (and I think it will be). For some reason, this little corner is a revolving door of businesses who just don't seem to have staying power there. Good luck and welcome!

I think it's the traffic, getting out of that parking lot isn't fun.

So glad Pho Ca Dao is now in Santee! I eat at the Mira Mesa location quite often. The food is delicious, fresh and fast! Welcome to Santee!

Tried Pho Ca Dao the other night. Very busy. Servers kept bumping into my chair as they hurried past. The service was unrushed, unlike over at Pho Santee who always seem to pounce on you within seconds of sitting down, try to rush you to order and shoosh you out the door after you put your utensils down. It was so unrushed they we had to flag down a waiter in order to get our bill even though there were several patrons standing around waiting to get seated. There were more noodles in the soup then provided from Pho Santee, but to me, Pho Santee has richer tasting broth and definitely gives you more veggies (basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno). Pho Ca Dao gave our table one plate of veggies to share. No take out menus were available either. On the plus side, the appetizer we had, K7 was delicious.
