Get ready for a sweet treat. Rita’s Italian Ice will open 30 stores in San Diego County over the next five years, including one in Santee.

The eatery, with 600 stores nationwide (there's is one in Carlsbad), serves fruit ices, frozen custard, milkshakes, frozen lemonades and other desserts.

Pennsylvania-based Rita’s Franchise Co.’s recently penned agreement with a San Diego-based franchisee is the largest ever made with a single franchisee, the San Diego Business Journal reported. The deal includes 70 shops total in San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, the paper reported.

Exact locations of future shops had not been announced, SDBJ said, but expect Rita’s to come to Santee, Escondido, Oceanside, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos and Vista.

The first time I tried Rita's was in Gatlinberg Tennessee, it was sooo good! I recommend the Gelati, this is their Italian ice between two layers of their famous custard. http://www.ritasice.com
