Roots Community Kitchen Opens 'Farm to Table Dining' in Santee

Fresh, local, trendy and modern, the restaurateurs that were associated with Michael's Grill are back with a delicious new spot.

Described as a "farm-to-table gastropub with homestyle hospitality," the took over the cool vibe of the restaurant a couple weeks ago with a redesign and radical new modern fine dining menu for Santee.

They emphasize the use of food from local farms, ranches and artisans in their dishes, exemplified by the quote on their menu: "The choice is yours, we choose local."

The food is a modern style and wide ranging, from pizza, to mussels, chilled cucumber soup, paninis, braised short ribs, pasta, a selection of salads and more. The bar serves wine and beer, with a great selection of local draft brews, including Santee's .

The restaurant is in it's "soft opening" stage, still working out some of the kinks of serving über fresh food and switching out the Via Moto signage. Once they're in the swing of things they hope have local bands on the patio, football on Sundays and more.
