Santee Biz: Two Clothing Stores Open, Chick-Fil-A Hiring

Two new clothing stores open at the old Rite Aid spot and Carlton Oaks Plaza.

The Trend

The Trend, a retail clothing store specializing in quality clothing and accessories for men, women, and teens, opened their doors at Carlton Oaks Plaza last weekend. They advertise a lineup of "today’s hottest brand names" such as MEK, Rock Revival, Affliction, Miss Me and more.

"We have always had a love for fashion and we are living out our dream in helping people to look and feel their best."

Clothes for Under $10

10 Dollar Mall.com held their grand opening in Santee this week, and don't let the name fool you, it is a physical store. The clearance clothing store is situated in the old Rite Aid building in the shopping center at the corner of Mission Gorge Road and Cuyamaca Street.

The store sells clothing and accessories for men, woman and kids, all for under $10. They secure close-outs, overstocks, surplus, clearance items and other merchandise deals to pass savings on to their customers.

Restaurants Hiring

The Chick-Fil-A restaurant under construction in the Kohl's parking lot on Mission Gorge Road in Santee recently put out a "Now Hiring" banner with the contact email apply@CFASantee.com.

Rumor also has it that that Boll Weevil, which is due to open in six weeks at the old Michael's Grill site, is currently hiring. But, I haven't found any confirmation or contact information to apply. Keep an eye on the weekly local jobs report for more about this.

So sorry to see 10 Dollar Mall opened up in Santee. That's all we need-another cheap, low-end 'dollar store' especially in the center of town. These stores attract a bad element from outside Santee. If the owner of that shopping center had done the right thing and re-built the center from the ground-up (as the Vons/old AMC Santee 8 center did), they'd be able to demand a higher rent and thus, get a higher-end tenant. If Santee wants to be 'up and coming' it's gotta get away from adding more dollar stores, check-cashing, and bail bond places.

Its not a rumor about the Boll Weevil. The same people who own the one in lakeside are going to be opening it. I know this because I know the owners and they are on the Sultan Discount Card and I asked about it.

Pat, Wanted to let you know I bought Zoo York and Eddie Bauer shirts for my kids for Christmas at the 10 Dollar Mall. They have nice clothes and at a fairly good price and I am sorry the store doesnt appeal to your "expensive tastes". Perhaps if you would get the stick out of your ASS you would see that not every one can afford Macy's or Nordstroms. Perhaps, you think Kohl's is bad also and promotes a bad element for the city of Santee. Lowe's? Purple Hearts or Salvation Army? My kids had a nice christmas thanks to the 10 Dollar Mall you pompous ass. You need help with that stick, let me know..

Can't send messages to Dad because he's now deceased, but my dad was very wise...He'd say thingsRead More like: "You can get arrested for what you say, but not what you think!" - or - "Take care of your feet, and they'll take care of you!" My dad wasn't much for words, but he was always a stable figure growing up and was loyal to mom throughout the years. Nowadays, that in and of itself is honorable! Thank you Dad! In Loving Memory...
