Seki's Cycles: The Grand Opening of Holistic Biking in San Diego

From mountain bikes to 3D scans to Reiki healing- the ribbon is cut on a new high performance bicycle shop.

A unique bicycle shop in an indescript commercial park in Santee held their grand opening on Saturday- one that will tune up your bike, and attune your biking "mind, body and spirit."

opened its doors off of Prospect Avenue in April, but has been "underground" until lately, according to owner Enrico Cecala. Members of the and bicycle enthusiasts mingled in the shop, dined on some tasty lunch and cut a ribbon along with some proclamations and support from local leaders.

Cecala and his wife have a passion for bicycling that would be hard to match. He's been on two wheels since he was two-years-old and hasn't looked back.

He said they chose the location because Santee is an epicentre of biking in the county, with and beautiful streets, and he thought the area needed a "high performance" shop.

The shop offers a selection of mountain, road and triathlon bicycles for all levels, and they carry exclusive brands, Ellsworth, Focus, Cinelli and Look bikes. It is a shop for serious riders, definetly not your bike aisle.

"We take a lot of pride in our brands and we have tested and gained trust in everything we sell. Focus, Cinelli and locally made Ellsworth bikes, are unique in their designs and they are something worth experiencing."said Cecala.

The unusual aspect of the shop comes from the owner's holistic approach to biking- taking into account "bike, body, mind and spirit."

The shop has a state-of-the-art Retul bike fitting studio which can help you take riding to another level- they can make a 3D scan of you and your bike to tweak the performance of each, so the body and bike mesh just right.

If that's not enough, and you need that extra boost for a race, both Cecala and his wife are trained Reiki healers, a Japanese technique that involves manipulating one's "life-force energy," and will perform an "attunement" on you. Cecala said the first time his wife practiced Reiki on him before a race, he felt an amazing difference in performance.

Cecala said he doesn't know of any other bike shops that offer that kind of service, in San Diego, California, or anywhere. Add that to the list of Santee's awesome outdoor activity options.

See the attached video interview with the owner for more about the shop.

this is why the battlefield has changed temporarily from the political arena to the Energy Arena.Read More Co Gen Tricks and the usual suspects are making their big money bet on two inevitable facts that will force the hand of the CPUC and CEC to place a new gas power plant somewhere in the area. 1) the Electric Vehicle Mandate. 2) voltage support (power factor) needed by the industrial wind and solar farms in the desert. There is more to what meets the eye with the aggressive push by the usual suspects to cover our open spaces in the East County with these poorly sited RE projects. More wind and solar farms means more gas power plants. There is only one way to fight the destruction of our open spaces, and that is with roof top solar, conservation, energy efficiency and community owned energy districts. The fisrt thing that needs to be done is the City of Santee exempt residential scale PV installs from needing a building permit. Australia, Germany and the State of Vermont do not require a Building Permit to install PV.
