Food Truck Fridays and Summer Concerts Heat Up Weekend Events

Fireworks maybe over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end.

Bring your picnic basket and blankets for a movie at the Lakes. Or enjoy a summer concert at sunset.

MOVIES BY THE LAKE

• What's Up: Spend your Friday night, outdoors and under the stars. Movies by the Lake will feature Madagascar 3 at Santee Lakes. 
• When: 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5. 
• Where: Santee Lakes, 9310 Fanita Pkwy.
• Price: Free. 

• What's Up: Kick off the Sunset Summer Concert Series with the country and pop/rock band Charly & Calico Ridge. Enjoy a free concert every Friday in July and August. Concerts will be at the Macy's courtyard.
• When: 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5. 
• Where: Grossmont Center,  5500 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa.
• Price: Free.

• What's Up: Enjoy a bite to eat for a great cause. Food Truck Fridays will gather food trucks in Santee. The event will benefit Santee school kids participating in parent-funded programs like 6th Grade Camp and 8th Grade Washington DC trip.
• When: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5. 
• Where: Rio Seco School, 9545 Cuyamaca St., Santee. 
• Price: Cost of food. 

• What's Up: Join an MTRP guide and tracking team member for a morning of exploration. Learn how to discover the signs left behind by resident creatures. 
• When: 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6. 
• Where: Mission Trails Regional Park, One Father Junipero Serra Tr.
• Price: Free. 

• What's Up: Unwind, grab a glass of wine and enjoy live local music. This week will feature the band People of Earth featuring 80s music to current hits. 
• When: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 6. 
• Where: San Pasqual Winery Tasting Room, 8364 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa. 
• Price: No cover charge. Wine and cheese available for sale.
