Rain Expected to Continue Through Tuesday, Santee Sees .36 Inches

Over one third of an inch drops on Santee in 24 hours, and it's not over yet. Forecast inside.

A low-pressure atmospheric system pulled rain clouds over the San Diego area from subtropic locales to the south Monday, dropping 0.36 inches on Santee in on-and-off showers to the region from morning into the evening hours.

The blustery spring storm was expected to continue dousing the county and generating strong desert and mountain winds into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Over a 24-hour period ending at 5:30 p.m., the dark clouds dropped 0.83 of an inch of moisture at Palomar Mountain; 0.77 at Otay Mountain; 0.66 at Pine Hills Fire Station; 0.59 at Lake Cuyamaca; 0.55 in Oceanside; 0.51 in Santa Ysabel; 0.47 in Valley Center; 0.46 in Julian; 0.4 in Descanso; 0.39 in San Marcos; 0.36 in Ramona; 0.35 in La Mesa; 0.33 in Fallbrook and Flinn Springs; 0.26 in Point Loma; 0.2 at Montgomery Field airport; 0.16 at Lindbergh Field; 0.11 in Harbison Canyon and Poway; and 0.05 in the Granite Hills area of El Cajon.

The showers should dwindle out over the afternoon Tuesday, making way for partly cloudy but dry conditions through the rest of the workweek and into the weekend, the NWS predicted.

Santee NWS Forecast

Monday night: A 40 percent chance of showers after 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 55. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Showers, mainly before 11am. High near 67. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night:Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light north in the evening.

Thursday: Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 68.

Thursday Night: Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 58.
