Henry Arthur Mounts, a war hero and postal carrier in Santee for 20 years, died January 22, according to a recent obituary in the Union Tribune.
Born in Missouri, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought and was wounded in Korea. He then joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at ports around the world. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, United Nations Medal with two Bronze Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal and Navy Good Conduct Medal.
For 20 years he worked out of the Santee Post Office as a letter carrier/router and maintained many hobbies in his retirement.
