Joe Miller, Santee Sheriff's Department Volunteer, Dies at 87

He spent 18 years with the Santee Sheriff's Department Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) program.

The March 27, 2013 meeting of the Santee City Council will be adjourned in memory of Santee resident Joe Miller. Joe was 87 years old and a volunteer with the Santee Sheriff's Department Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) program for 18 years.

Joe was a dedicated volunteer and family man and was retired from the Navy. Joe is survived by his wife Linda and lots of family and friends.

Randy Mayor Voepel gave a touching memorial for Joe at the council meeting alongside many members of his family.

"He taught us all how to be tightnit and love each other," said his daughter.

"My dad did what he wanted to do- he served his community until his last breath."
