Poll: How Would Jesus Vote on the Paul Ryan Budget Plan in Congress?

Roman Catholic nuns hit the road in bus tour to lobby against federal cuts in social services.

Religious conservatives have long lobbied Washington on behalf of their causes—bans on abortion or same-sex marriage, for example. Now religious liberals are making their voices heard. The latest case: A nine-state bus tour by Catholic nuns in opposition to Republican budget proposals spearheaded by Rep. Paul Ryan that would cut federal spending on socal programs. The Vatican does not approve of the bus tour (with its own website). But the 14 sisters are unswayed. Where does God stand?

Ron, once again you made a bad assumption. I am not a religious person, but I do respect those who are. I believe living your life as most, not all, of the Ten Commandments specify is noble and leads to a better life.for all. I believe bringing God into a political argument is a cheap way to do your job and indicates you are out of ideas and are at the bottom of the barrel. I have no way of knowing if there is a God, but often wonder how such an in-imaginable complex body, that has an infinite number of inter- dependent variables could develop and function just based on chance. I will probably never know since I am headed for hell, if there is one.

I feel bad that this question was presented, and it is so impossible to answer, especially, in the simplistic way it was phrased. And some of the responses have been equally shallow minded. I hope we can do better than this. Doug, I would also like to contribute to your punctuation mark fund raising for "Things I Learned". Man, I hope we can get some serious discussion going, with intelligent questions, and a bit more literacy in the responses.

This is stupid. Jesus never got involved in politics. When people wanted to make him king, he ran away. He has his own agenda and it's far superior than anything human governments could ever accomplish. Besides human governments have had their day, they're all crumbling; it'll be over soon enough.

Life is politics- just the things Jesus talked about were political in nature, whether or not he wanted to get into "politics." Interesting article on the matter: http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/creech/060314
