177 Car Burglaries Reported in Santee Since September

Always lock your car doors, keep your windows rolled up and don't leave your valuables in plain sight.

Over the past few months the Santee Sheriff's Station has seen an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles- a total of 177 reported thefts from vehicles since September 2012.

The Santee Sheriff's Station has released a reminder to always lock your car doors, keep your windows rolled up and don't leave your valuables in plain sight.

"Car burglaries have one thing in common: criminals are looking for something to steal and victims provide the criminal with the opportunity by leaving items in their car that are easily seen by peering into a window or opening a door and rifling through the car."
