2 Arrested in Lakeside Marijuana, Honey Oil Bust Face Multiple Charges

Suspects are being held on drug, battery and child endangerment charges after operation is uncovered at their home.

An incident in a bar Friday night has led authorities to a drug operation in Lakeside and resulted in a couple being busted.

Two people were arrested after a marijuana grow operation and "honey oil" lab was uncovered at their Cimbria Way home Friday night in Lakeside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Brian Robert Ruiz, who will be 45 tomorrow, and Kendra Michelle Ruiz, 38, are being held on multiple drug and child endangerment charges, according to jail records.

Authorities say the incident began about 8:30 p.m. Friday when sheriff's deputies from Alpine and Lakeside responded to a call about a man displaying a knife at the Renegade Bar on Olde Highway 80 in unincorporated El Cajon. Using the license plate number of the suspect's vehicle, which was registered to the Cimbria Way address, the car was tracked down and stopped. A search of a cell phone showed evidence of an indoor marijuana grow at the home.

A female driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and a male passenger who had displayed a knife at the country and western dance bar was arrested for possession of concentrated cannabis, sheriff's Sgt. Scott Sterner says.

When deputies went to the residence on the 12000 block of Cimbria Way, they could see the windows on the home and garage were boarded up, hear fans operating inside, and smell the aroma of marijuana.

Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant with the assistance of the Narcotics Task Force. Inside the residence deputies discovered a marijuana grow and a BHO/"honey oil" lab. The Sheriff's Crime Lab was called and responded to process the evidence, Sterner says.

Robert Ruiz is also charged with battery and displaying a deadly weapon. No bail was set. Bail was set at $495,000 for Kendra Ruiz. They are scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 15 in El Cajon Superior Court.

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestmail Have you been arrested for cannabis? Know someone who has? Do you pay taxes? Do you vote? Cannabis prohibition affects us all. Ever thought about how strange it is that this naturally occurring “weed” is the source of so much fear and negative stigma? How there can be laws against the use of a plant that more than half of society ignore? How can so many people claim that this “dangerous” natural herb heals their symptoms and improves their lives? Not sure what to think about medical use? Wonder what conditions might benefit from the use of this herb? What are the risks? What are the facts? The Human Solution is a grassroots network of people that began in Southern California. Chapters have been chartered covering the Northern, Central, and Southern areas of California as well Arizona, Washington and Michigan. You can become a member and start a chapter too! The purpose of The Human Solution is to support each other through the trials we face as cannabis consumers and spread educational information about cannabis. California voters approved cannabis for medical uses in 1996, now more than 19 states and our nation’s capital all have compassionate use laws. Recent studies have shown that cannabis compounds are not only safe, they are important to healing dozens of known human conditions through a system in the body known as the ECS or EndoCannabinoid System. After years of negative press, the truth is being revealed that the only dangers related to cannabis is the risk of arrest by law enforcement. Many cannabis patients, cannabis consumers, supporters, and those who just want their tax money put to better use have already joined this group. Only by standing in solidarity against the unfair treatment of cannabis consumers can we stop penalizing good people with bad laws. Our tax dollars pay to arrest and incarcerate people for cannabis while the economy continues to fail. Your tax dollars are used to feed, house and provide limited medical treatment in prisons and jails while our public school budgets are cut year after year! Cannabis and Hemp should be legal! No victim = No crime! Join us to help end cannabis prohibition for good! The-Human-Solution.org "No One Belongs In Jail Because Of A Plant"
