33 Arrested in East County Warrant Sweep

The Sheriff's Department clears outstanding warrants Saturday morning.

A warrant sweep conducted by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department in La Mesa, Santee and other East County locations Saturday resulted in 33 people being arrested between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to Sgt. Trinidad Tejeda.

The detail cleared 42 warrants, including six felonies. One warrant arrest subject was found with heroin and was charged for that offense, according to Tejeda.

Officers from the Sheriff’s Department’s Court Services, Field Unit and the San Diego Fugitive Task Force participated in the sweep, which targeted suspects with misdemeanor and felony warrants. Arrests were also made in El Cajon, Alpine and Lakeside.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the efforts to apprehend wanted persons have increased in the past several months. The department encourages people with outstanding warrants to turn themselves in at any sheriff’s court facility Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
