The late morning fire was quickly brought under control.

A brush fire burned about five acres just south of San Vicente Reservoir Thursday morning, with ground and airborne firefighting crews quickly extinguishing the blaze.

The fire started around 11:30 a.m. for unknown reasons in a steep, difficult region of the Foster area near Moreno Avenue and Vigilante Road but by about 12:15 p.m. it was under control, said Cal Fire Captain Mike Mohler.

Cal Fire and Lakeside fighters responded with the aid of two helicopters and two air tankers based at Ramona Air Attack Base.
