Brush Fire Near Route 52 and Mast Blvd. Causes Traffic Delays

A couple spots of brush fire along Route 52 near Mast Boulevard caused traffic delays on the freeway during the evening commute Tuesday, but are now extinguished.

Lakeside Fire Department Alert @ 4 pm: 

"City of San Diego and Central Zone companies are on-scene of a vegetation fire in the area of Highway 52 and Mast Blvd. The fire is no threat to the community but smoke will likely drift through the area. Lakeside Brush 1 is assisting with fire. There are closures on Highway 52 (expect delays)."

There were no reports of structural threats, according to California Highway Patrol.

CHP reported at 4:30 p.m. that "they are about to reopen the lanes."

"Traffic coming east is already backed up on the 52 all the way back to Hwy 15 according to the wife."
