Authorities asked the public Wednesday for help in identifying a motorist involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist three weeks ago on Interstate 8 in El Cajon.
Shawn Kinzer, 40, was riding his 2003 Honda CBR 600 to the east on the freeway when he got into a collision with a car near Mollison Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Nov. 10, according to the California Highway Patrol. The motorist involved in the accident kept driving and left the area.
Medics took Kinzer, an El Cajon resident, to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the vehicle involved in the fatal crash was a light-colored 1997- to 2001-model Buick Park Avenue, CHP public-affairs Officer Brian Pennings said.
"The vehicle will have minor to moderate damage on the left side, including but not limited to the left side mirror, doors and possibly the left front," Pennings said.
Anyone with information about the accident was asked to call the Highway Patrol at (619) 401-2000.
