The Horse Fire and El Monte Fire together burned 17 acres on Sunday.

Original story:

Investigations were under way Monday into a pair of weekend brush fires that scorched parts of Lakeside, according to Cal Fire.

The Horse Fire burned about 12 acres of brush in a rural area of Lakeside Sunday afternoon, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler said in a statement. It broke out on Crazy Horse Drive near Morning Dove Road about 2:15 p.m. and was contained roughly two hours later.
