Authorities Negate Rumors of Hill Creek School Weapon Incident

Worried parents can breathe easier, as rumors of an incident involving a knife on campus are denied by the Sheriff's Department and School District.

Patch received messages from a few readers asking us to look into a supposed knife-wielding incident at on Tuesday, but the matter was just a rumor, according to the Santee .

Sgt. Tom Poulin said Thursday that police did respond to the school at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday to provide medical assistance to a student, but the incident did not involve a weapon.

“It was for a medical assist,” Poulin said. “There was no knife, no weapon, no nothing involved. So, that is not correct information.”

On Wednesday, Linda Vail, the executive assistant to the Superintendent, also said there was nothing to report.

“I can’t give you any information because it’s student-related… We have confidentiality laws,” Vail said. “There’s really nothing that we could report, and there’s really nothing to report.”

Readers requested more information about the incident on Facebook and in emails to Santee Patch.

"I received a recorded message from the principal that there was an incident, but I didn't know what it was because my daughter is in second grade and this was a junior high incident," one reader reported. "I asked an older neighbor and she said a 7th grader pulled a knife on a teacher or something..."

Poulin said the only other incident that the campus police responded to this week occurred just after midnight on Wednesday.

Police responded to a suspicious circumstance call about lights on in
some classrooms and a car parked in front of the school. Deputies found a classroom door open and what looked like wires pulled from the ceiling, he said. Police called the principal and were informed that work was being done on the rooms, Poulin said.
