Brush Fire Under Control in Sycamore Canyon Preserve

A fire began around 11:15 a.m. and was put down around noon in the hills north of Santee.

Two to three acres of land were scorched Friday in a fire in the north of Santee.

According to Heartland Fire and Rescue, the fire began for unknown reasons around 11:15 a.m. and was under control by noon. Sheriff's helicopters scooped water from the and dropped it on the blaze as firefighters made their way to the remote area.

No injuries were reported.
