Captain With Barona Fire District Arrested for Alleged Sex With a Minor

Out on $250,000 bail on suspicion of multiple charges of molesting a person under age 18, arraignment is set for mid March.

A captain with an East County fire department was arrested this week for allegedly having sex with a minor, authorities reported Friday.

Deputies took 38-year-old Raul Licon Jr. into custody at his San Marcos home Thursday on suspicion of multiple charges of molesting a person under age 18, sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Aquino said.

Licon, who works for the Barona Fire Protection District in the Lakeside area, was booked into county jail about 12:45 p.m., according to Aquino. He posted $250,000 bail and was released less than eight hours later.

Authorities declined to release details about the accusations against the suspect, including the alleged victim's age, gender and relationship to him, if any.

Licon is scheduled to be arraigned in the case on the afternoon of March 16, said Steve Walker, a spokesman for the District Attorney's Office.

Really?! A picture of a Barona Fire Dept. patch! Unless he did the molestation while he was on duty the patch isn't pertinent to this case. There are decent firefighters who still work there and don't want to be associated with this

Yes Really, Patch serves the community and by notifying the public about this sex offender, allows other victims of this Monster, to come forward that may not be aware that he has been arrested. Great Job Patch!

@ Kathy: The man is ACCUSED, not CONVICTED! Do you actually read and think or just blurt out your first emotional reaction? Also it was irresponsible for The Patch to run a picture of the department logo. His work place and the rest of the department have nothing to do with the story, at least not to the extent that the department shield should accompany the headline. The Patch should print a retraction and apologize to the department. That would be responsible journalism.
